Admissions

The Faculty of Education offers opportunities to study for both degree students and exchange students. The number of non-Finnish speakers has grown also among the postgraduate population. At the moment we have degree students from 21 different countries.


Degree programmes

Within the Faculty of Education, the Department of Educational Sciences and Teacher Education offers two programmes for non-Finnish speakers. All the other programmes at the Faculty require fluency in Finnish. Student selections for the degree programmes in the Faculty of Education take place during the spring, March till June. The application deadline for the 2-year Master's Degree Programme in Education and Globalisation is January 31. Below you can find more detailed information about the student selection criteria:

Early Education

Doctoral degree (PhD)

In order to apply for the right to pursue postgraduate studies, fill in the application form, appending a personal study plan based on your negotiations with a professor/degree supervisor. You shall also include a free-form research plan in which you should present the theoretical and methodological basis of your research, the research problems and data as well as a publishing plan and implementation schedule. Your application should also be accompanied by evidence of the degree or other studies qualifying you for postgraduate studies, together with copies of any certificates. As instructed in the application form, the research plan should also be sent electronically. The application form together with the appendices shall be addressed to the Faculty of Education, PO Box 2000, 90014 UNIVERSITY OF OULU, Finland ..

Exchange students (Erasmus, Nordplus, Bilateral, Free Mover etc.)

Exchange student applications are accepted throughout the year, but please note our deadlines May 31 for the fall semester and October 15 for the spring semester.
